Seeking Strategies
Identify sources of information maps, primary source
documents, charts, biographies, literary criticism, encyclopedia
entries, and interviews. Determine which of your sources contains
information related to your topic. You should eliminate some
sources as you progress in your research, as not all of them
will be relevant. As you narrow down your sources, remember
to keep them varied in order to have many perspectives on
your topic. Place your sources in order of their expected
usefulness.
Lets say you have selected
6 sources for your report. From BritannicaSchool, you might
choose the following content:
30-day
news archive
Journal
and magazine articles
Internet Guide
Study
Guides in mathematics, language arts, and science
Merriam-Webster
Dictionary and Thesaurus
Encyclopædia
Britannica
Before going on to the next step, complete
the following checklist:
I
have created a list of sources
My
sources are diverse (not all
news articles, not all encyclopedia
entries, etc.)
