Synthesis
Organize your findings into a coherent, logical sequence based on your research. The “synthesis” stage is where you analyze the information you have collected, outline how you will compose your assignment, and start putting it all together.

Check again to make sure you are addressing the questions you posed in task definition. Check again what the assignment requires and include only information relevant to the assignment.

Synthesis is a daunting step, and will take you longer than some of the other steps. Read our BritannicaSchool guide How To Write A Research Report for more help with this step.

Before going on to the next step, complete the following checklist:

I know how I should organize and present my information

I have identified the most important points I want to make

I have created an outline of the finished product

I have written a first draft of my assignment, reviewed it, and revised information or points that are incomplete or confusing

I have written a final draft of my assignment
